About Me
Ruth Setlak, MSW, LCSW, ACS
I believe that healing involves the mind, body and soul. I focus primarily on relational methods, as I believe that the therapeutic bond is a place to practice and explore new ways of connecting, being vulnerable, processing emotions, receiving care, and building self-awareness. My main methods of therapy are Neuro-Affective Relational Model (NARM), and Intensive Short-term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP). Both of focus on using relationship to bring out each individual’s self-righting tendencies, increase connection to self and identify unhelpful and unconscious defensive patterns that may contribute to our symptoms. I also am certified in the DIR/ Floortime developmental play therapy model and have training in various parenting and family therapy methods, including Circle of Security and Developmental Dyadic Psychotherapy (DDP). I am certified in EMDR, and have completed many advanced EMDR trainings. Finally, I am level 3 trained in Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) for early trauma and attachment wounds and I also am a certified Transforming Touch® practitioner, a method of therapy using touch to support nervous system regulation and to heal early trauma.
I have a Bachelor’s degree in English and Spanish from Miami University in Ohio, an MBA from Northwestern University in Evanston, and a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Kentucky. My Colorado license is #9925261. I am lucky to be married to a wonderful husband and have three boys, all beginning their journey into adulthood. I love to hike, read, and sit by the firepit with friends and family.
